Comunicado importante por parte de la sección de migración de la embajada de Australia en México.

Effective from today, the Immigration Section of the Australian Embassy Mexico City will no longer process visas.

All visa applications for nationals of Mexico and Central America will be now be processed by the Immigration team based in Ottawa. The Embassy website and other communication material will be updated over the coming days to advise clients that they now need to lodge visa applications in Ottawa. However DIBP will continue to accept visa applications over the next few weeks during the transition phase.

The Mexico City immigration section is not closing.  Rather, the office has been re-purposed to focus on integrity issues as well as the introduction of the biometrics over the coming months.  As a result, two new locally engaged positions in Mexico City will be advertised

  • Locally Engaged Integrity Officer (LEIO) – who will be responsible for managing caseload integrity issues; and
  • Liaison Officer – this position will be primarily responsible for managing relationships with stakeholders such as agents and biometric collection services.
